The school age program offer a variety of enriching and recreational activities, as well as restful periods at the end of the school day. Time and space are provided for children to work on homework and assignments. Activities include arts and crafts, clubs, games, cooking and outdoor play. Planned field trips and special activities are offered on inservice days and some school vacation days.
The program is licensed through the PA Department of Human Services and participates in the Keystone Stars quality initiative program. There is an on-site Head teacher at the location, along with a staff or qualified recreational counselors. Healthy snacks are provided under the supervision of the CDFC Nutrition Coordinator.
Fees
Parents may choose one of two payment options for the school year:
True Flat Rate: Parents pay same weekly fee throughout school year. School year program flat rate does not include full day care on school district inservice days, or days when school is not in session. Families who choose the flat rate for the school year will not be able to use full day care on an inservice day, without prior arrangement and paying an additional drop in fee.
Blended Rate: Covers full-day care during school district inservice days. Parents pay same weekly fee throughout school year. We have introduced the blended rate so that we do not have to adjust the bill balance on the account following an inservice day. Blended rate does not cover delays or early dismissals due to inclement weather. These services are provided as part of specific contracted hours.
If you contract for the flat rate, and find that you will need care on an inservice day, you may change your contract to the blended rate prior to the inservice day. It will then remain at the blended rate for the school year.
Snow Policy
Care on early dismissal or delay of school is available on a limited basis and might result in additional charges depending on the hours of care that have been contracted.
Programs will be open when PVASD cancels school for the entire day.
Summer Camp
The CDFC operates a Summer Camp Program at Trinity United Church of Christ begins shortly after the end of the school year and ends in August.
Hours: Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Ages: Kindergarten through age twelve.
Counselor Assistant program is available for selected applicants who have completed sixth grade and have been previously enrolled in CDFC School Age Programs.
Summer activities include arts and crafts, field trips, swimming, clubs, and special guests.
Summer camp priority registration is available for currently enrolled children and children who attended Summer Fun Camp the year before. Please see your program head teacher for more information or email Cdfc@cdfc.org.

The Child Development and Family Council does not provide transportation to any of the programs. Children ride the school buses in their attendance areas. Any exceptions to this policy must be arranged between families and the School District.
